A World Cup promise
Eight years ago, I promised Polly that if the Socceroos made another World Cup, and she was eighteen, and I was going, she could come with me.

We leave today!
I don’t have much time to write as a result, but excitement is high and we’re hopeful that our young and exciting Socceroos can pull out something special on the world’s biggest sporting stage.
My Ange & The Boss codirector Cam Fink will be there too, and we plan to reboot Francis Leach’s ‘World Cup Road Trip’ with audio snippets of our travels and adventures. Francis isn’t in Canada and the United States this time, and we’re grateful to him for letting us continue with the tradition (and his podcast url)
We might also be contributing to Santo and Ed’s Cup Fever with occasional snippets, as we did in 2010.
I haven’t updated the text on this photo, but the joke of old me and young me doesn’t work any better with even older me!
There are many troubling aspects to this World Cup. But there will be joy as well, especially once the matches get underway, and I love our hosts The Green & Gold Army. I’ll post here on the good and the bad, as well as sharing thoughts on the Road Trip podcast.
I gotta go pack!
Here is the ebook of Australia United, Adventures at World Cup Germany 2006. Tamsin was pregnant with Polly on that trip! I called her ‘Gene’ in chapter one (genetic material).
Today she's full formed Polly, our eldest, Yarra Jets striker, general legend, and we get to share the greatest sports travel adventure of all.
Subscribe to the Road Trip podcast (we haven’t set it up yet for USA)
Help me publish my idioms picture book - The Elephant in the Room
About thirty people so far have committed to purchasing two copies later in the year, and I’m thanking them buy printing kids and grandkids names in the back of the book.
