Easter dog, Lazarus dog

We took Charley home from the pound at Easter 2006 and he died Easter 2019, although not before a couple of resurrections. He was our beautiful boy, our Lazarus Dog.

The majority of this piece ran under the title ‘Epsilon’ in an animal stories anthology, ‘Man & Beast’ (MUP, 2016) edited by Andrew Rule. I updated it after Charley Dog’s death into this form. It’s long, so I’ll post it in two sections for everyone, or paid subscribers can read straight through.
