Wasim Akram — Sultan of signatures
At a recent lunch, I sat next to Sara Cass who was wearing the lime green 1992 World Cup pyjama shirt of the Pakistani cricket team. We were both there to hear Gideon Haigh interview Wasim Akram.
It ends up being the story of two autobiographies. The first is one I’ve just read, ‘Sultan’ by Wasim Akram (with Gideon Haigh), and given Gideon controls a sentence almost as well as Wasim controls an inswinging yorker, that ‘with' probably deserves to be out of brackets and in capitals.
